Day 2 of the Welsh Athletics Junior Open & South & East Wales & South West England Regional Championships will take place on Saturday 6th January 2018 in the National Indoor Athletics Centre, Cardiff.


Day 2 Events: (U13 & U15 Athletes CANNOT compete in the 800m & 1500m on the same day)
U13 Girls – 60m, 60m Hurdles, 800m, 1500m, Shot Put
U15 Girls – 60m, 60m Hurdles, 800m, 1500m, Shot Put, Pole Vault
U17 Women – 60m, 60m Hurdles, 800m, 1500m, Long Jump, Pole Vault

U13 Boys – 60m, 60m Hurdles, 800m, 1500m, Long Jump
U15 Boys – 60m, 60m Hurdles, 800m, 1500m, Long Jump, Pole Vault
U17 Men – 60m, 60m Hurdles, 800m, 1500m, Long Jump, Pole Vault

Please note that entry numbers for field events will be capped to 40 athletes per event.  These will be allocated on a first come-first served basis with a quota per region.
South Wales – 12 places
East Wales – 12 places
South West England – 8 places
Junior Open – 8 places

Age Group Criteria
U13 athletes – born between 01/09/2005 – 31/08/2007 (school years 6/7)
U15 athletes – born between 01/09/2003 – 31/08/2005 (school years 8/9)
U17 athletes – born between 01/09/2001 – 31/08/2003 (school years 10/11)

All athletes must select the region that they are eligible to compete under (if not South Wales, East Wales or South West England, then please select Junior Open).

South/East Wales Regional Eligibility Criteria
(A) Birth: (South Wales) If born in one of the five administrative counties of Bridgend, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taff and the Vale of Glamorgan or in the former Mid Glamorgan section of Caerphilly. (East Wales) If born in one of the six administrative counties of Blaenau Gwent, Newport, Monmouthshire, Torfaen, Powys and Caerphilly (previous selected athletes for South Wales remain in the South)
(B) Residence:
If having been resident in the relevant region for 9 months continuously since 1st August 2016. 
(C) Retention: 
If having qualified under (b) or (c), they retain the qualification until they acquire residential qualification and compete in the championships of another Welsh region or an English county AND They have not taken part in a different Welsh Regional or English County Championships and not represented another Welsh Region or and English County in an Inter Regional or Inter County event since October 1st 2016

South West England Regional Eligibility Criteria
(A) Birth:
The athlete having been born in the South West. (The athlete having been born in the South West of England, comprising the counties of Avon, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire).
(B) Residence: A minimum of 9 months continuous continuous residence in the South West immediately prior to the event competing in.  N.B. University residence does not count for South West qualification.
(C) Retention: By first claim membership of an EA affiliated Club within the South West competition area that has registered with EA for Track and Field and is a paid up member of the EA registration scheme

Junior Open 
Athletes entering the Junior Open Grand Prix should have no links to any of the above regions e.g. West Wales & North Wales Athletes
