Project Description

This project is a showcase of how a circular approach can be implemented in the design. KA13 in Spaces was refurbished and furnished using only used furniture and reused building materials, and circular furniture to minimise its impact on the environment.
Norwegian Trash, Cutfab, The Good Plastic Company collaborated to produce furniture that would suit not only the look and vibe of the place but also the spirit of the location. Our tables made from 100% recycled and recyclable plastic became a great demonstration of how waste can be transformed into a beautiful and functional thing.
The project was completed in March 2021.

Materials Used

The plastic panels produced by The Good Plastic Company that were used to create the tables for this project are 100% recycled and 100% recyclable. Exactly the type of material needed for a space that aims to have minimal impact on the environment and aims to use only recycled materials.
Salt Dune panels that were used for this project are made from recycled spools. The pattern was designed to have a natural stone look that perfectly suits the Scandinavian design of the place.
These plastic panels are unique because they combine design approaches and years of R&D that enabled The Good Plastic Company to produce them with industrial-grade quality and also with minimal impact on the environment.

Sustainability

Fighting plastic pollution and incorporating circular design practices are in hear of Norwegian Trash, Cutfab, The Good Plastic Company. Companies are working hard to keep plastic waste from ending up in landfills and oceans and to demonstrate to society that plastic waste can be transformed into beautiful new products.
To produce their panel The Good Plastic company uses only recycled plastic and aims to use 100% renewable sources of electricity where possible. The overall production process is built around using local waste and optimising production to decrease the consumption of the resources.
For this project, 600 kg of recycled plastic was used. The CO2 emission generated by the recycling of this number of panels is 780 kg. Production of the same amount of virgin plastic would have generated 2100 kg, e.g. 1320 kg of CO2 were prevented by this project not mentioning 600 kg of plastic that were saved from landfills and incineration.
